Before we begin, to maintain confidentiality, certain sensitive details have been omitted in this case study, as per our non-disclosure agreement. The insights shared here result from independent research and do not represent the official stance of the bank.
In a competitive financial world, banks are looking for new ways to attract large-scale investors. A central challenge is the costly and complex management of loan tenders. The bank identified a need for fundamental change in this area. To that end, an innovative blockchain-based application was developed for efficient and improved tender management. The goal – to save resources and enhance the user experience for the bank and investors.
In recent years we are witnessing impressive developments in the field of financial technology, which are completely changing the world of banking as we knew it. Innovative technologies like big data, artificial intelligence and blockchain enable automation and digitization of complex financial processes.
One prominent area is that of loan tenders for large institutional investors – an expensive and cumbersome process that has so far relied on manual management and outdated systems. Blockchain technology, which provides secure decentralized recording of transactions, gives an excellent solution to the unique needs of this field. Implementing the technology enables automation, data security, transparency and greater operational efficiency in tender management processes.
At its core, the key challenge was designing a system that could address the unique needs of complex tender management while ensuring an intuitive user experience. I had to transform outdated manual methods into a digital system, balancing privacy and transparency to enable effective negotiations.
Mastering information architecture and UX optimization in this intricate domain stretched my skills in crafting straightforward yet powerful experiences grounded in user needs. The multifaceted challenge of streamlining data presentation within a sophisticated system provided an invaluable learning experience.
I played a pivotal role across the full spectrum of the design process. My responsibilities started with spearheading user research to pinpoint friction points in existing workflows.
On the visual design front, I created polished, appealing UI designs aligned with the bank’s brand identity to complement the utility. I managed multiple iterative cycles of prototyping and user testing to refine and validate the design based on real user feedback.
Throughout, I worked closely with cross-functional teams to unify business objectives with user-centric design. My end-to-end contribution as a designer was key in devising an innovative solution tailored to address the intricacies of streamlining tender management.
The bank faced increasing pressure to modernize and digitize its large-scale tender management process. The antiquated manual system imposed high costs on the bank and investors, alongside inefficiency and opacity. Process bottlenecks led to missed business opportunities and damaged relationships.
Acquaintance with investors revealed uncertainty as a major pain point of the product. When something is unclear or seems deceptive, anxiety and frustration will be the primary barriers to using it. Therefore, identifying this need formed an important foundation.
Meeting these challenges demanded a transformational approach focused on automation, simplicity, and human-centered design. The solution aimed to revolutionize the bank’s core tender business and unlock strategic value.
A crucial step in our design process involved conducting extensive user interviews with various stakeholders like bankers, operations specialists, and investors.
We created an interview guide covering key topics to probe existing workflows, pain points, and ideal scenarios. 30-60 minute sessions enabled asking in-depth questions and engaging in thoughtful dialogue.
I led immersive interviews to map existing user journeys end-to-end. We asked users to verbalize their pain points as they simulated workflows. We analyzed the insights to pinpoint recurring issues and goals.
Numerous perspectives shaped strategic decisions about the design. The insights directly informed solutions tailored to simplify workflows, increase transparency, and address specific user needs. The interviews provided the foundation for human-centered design.
Throughout, the focus was on human-centered design. The result is a future-ready platform that sets new standards for tender management by unlocking immense strategic value for the bank.
I carefully planned the user experience and created intuitive and efficient workflows. The bilingual interface in Hebrew and English ensured accessibility for a diverse global user base of bankers and investors.
Provides insights and enables tender task and document management alongside tailored handling for each investor.
A task model and calendar integration empower enhanced scheduling and oversight of tenders. The main screen displays data-driven insights to highlight priority tenders, maintaining simplicity.
Proactive alerts and notifications keep users on track, while analytics offer actionable insights into tender performance. Consistent experience across desktop and mobile allows any-time, anywhere access.
Provides granular permissions control, allowing bankers to separate info access.
Informative banners, tags and notifications were placed to provide comprehensive insights.
Working on this project sharpened my spatial thinking abilities and helped me gain a comprehensive perspective on finance. I learned the importance of ubiquitous access to information, got to know the need for diverse roles and languages within investor teams, and how they communicate and make decisions.
These insights enabled me to design a product that is convenient, simple, and clear for investors and bankers craving a secure and accessible tool across a wide range of platforms. This learning was made possible thanks to people who did not hold back on critique and dreams, and who helped hone the product into a robust and effective tool.
